Broken Road to Redemption

Broken roads offer wonders, mysteries, and terrors. Walking through them is being forged in fire.

Broken Roads are what most of us are walking on. And there are byways where we were lost. Confused. Despairing.

There was a time, along this road, so many summers ago, when the world was younger; when the sun shone kindly on our skin, and our dreams seemed just an arm’s-length away.

Along this broken road is where we lived our lives. And in the crossroads, we made fateful decisions. Some were good; and some choices – based from emotions and impulses, led us away from the path of our dreams.

As we find our ways along this broken road, we learned to compromise, to listen more to the dictates of society, to the expectations of our family and friends – more than to our own hearts. What we didn’t realize when was that each compromise, each agreement to other’s expectations, are like nails on the door that keeps us locked in our room of comfort, along theby-ways of our broken roads.

Yet, we wake up from time to time, and found deep-seated motivations to act and pursue our dreams. Most often, we do these unconsciously, seldom realizing that we are being pulled by our unconscious to the path of our dreams.

And those times that we are awake, those times of conscious struggles, those were glorious moments. For they were struggles not just for achievement, but for the very essence of our identity.

And sometimes, we remember that at the other end of a long, broken road - just at the opposite side of darkness and of pain, is the freedom of your soul. That is when we realize that we are made of much stronger stuff than we have ever imagined. If only we can last for just one more day; if we can have both the courage and humility to ask for help;  if we can just dig deeper and summon our hidden strength.

Thus, I ask you to keep the faith, to continue believing in yourself, and continue walking along the broken road, for rare are the roads of life that are laid straight and true.

Broken roads offer wonders, mysteries, and terrors. Yet walking through them is like being forged in fire. If we keep the faith, we will come out stronger and wiser, with steel in our hearts and gentleness of spirits, transformed along the path of our broken road.
